Powder Pink & Sweet is the new dreamy music project from Cristina Verso. Powder Pink & Sweet combines elements of dreampop, shoegaze, post punk indie and electronic new wave with her own unique style and experiences to create a fusion of melodic resonance.
Cris comes from an artistic background, which has been a powerful influence in shaping her sound. During her childhood, there was always music in the house, from classical to rock and pop. As a teenager, Cris discovered bass guitar and 80s new wave and began her first pursuits in creating music. She soon expanded her repertoire by making a foray into vocal performance.
During her college years as a Music major, Cris studied classical singing and music theory. She was also involved in the local LA music scene, playing bass, keyboards, writing, and singing in an eclectic list of bands. Verso could be found performing in ska and reggae bands such as The Cover-Ups, The Twi-Lites and Hi Fever; punk bands such as The Stalkings; and most recently, indie shoegaze band, The Sleeping Car with Rafe Mandel of Polar Goldie Cats and Best Coast.
After several life-changing events, Cris reached a turning point that has revealed a level of introspection in her music. Powder Pink & Sweet strives to take that introspection combined with Verso’s vast experience across musical genres and create an uninhibited, yet mature, aural manifestation.
